Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the name “Tagup” come from?
“Tagup” is a baseball term — when a runner touches base before advancing. We borrowed it because that’s what good professional relationships are: every conversation is a small touch, and you can only round the next base if you’ve kept your foot on the last one.
What’s a “tagup” in the app?
A tagup is one logged conversation — a 1:1, a client call, a coffee — with its notes and, if you recorded it, the transcript, pinned to the person it was with. String them together and you get a relationship you can actually see: a timeline of every conversation, what was said, and what was promised.
What is the Conversation Hub?
The Conversation Hub is the chat area in the app — where you talk to Tagup, your AI partner. Ask “catch me up on Sarah before our 3pm” and Tagup reads everything you’ve captured — meetings, notes, transcripts, commitments — and gives you a plain-language brief. It can also propose new tasks, follow-ups, and tagups, but it never acts without your confirmation.
Does Tagup actually listen to my meetings?
Only when you press record. You decide which conversations to capture — and by default, Tagup won’t record a contact until they’ve approved it through the built-in consent flow (see the next question). Once a recording is transcribed, the audio itself is automatically and permanently deleted; only the transcript is kept. Transcripts are yours alone — delete them any time, never shared, never used to train any external model.
Do I need someone’s permission to record them?
By default, yes — and Tagup manages the asking for you. From a contact’s profile you send a transcription-approval request stating who you are and your purpose; the contact decides from their email, and can allow, decline, or change their mind at any time. Until they’ve approved, the record button for that contact stays disabled. Every decision is time-stamped in an audit history, and each recording keeps a record of the consent that allowed it. Prefer to manage consent yourself? A Settings policy can limit the requirement to locations that legally mandate it, or turn it off entirely (not recommended) — but obtaining any consent the law requires is always your responsibility. Your own voice memos and dictation never need approval.
Does the person I record need a Tagup account?
No. Approval requests arrive by email, and non-users get a unique, sign-in-free link to a private consent page covering every Tagup user who has asked to record them. If they later sign up with the same email, their choices simply appear in their account settings — nothing to redo.
Starter vs Pro — what’s the difference?
Both tiers ship the full Tagup product — Conversation Hub, audio tagups with AI transcription, smart-notes, semantic search, everything. The differences are monthly AI credits and cloud storage: Starter gets 500 credits (≈260 min of recordings or ≈50 Hub chat sessions) and 5 GB of storage for your files and artifacts; Pro gets 2,000 credits (≈1,000 min or ≈200 sessions) and 25 GB. Both include a 7-day free trial — no credit card required. See pricing for details.
Can the AI do things without my permission?
No. Tagup proposes tasks, follow-ups, tagups, and edits — but it never acts on your behalf without an explicit confirm. You stay the author; Tagup is the partner.
What exactly is Tagup?
Tagup helps you keep track of the professional relationships that drive your work. Think of it as your personal relationship manager — not for sales leads, but for the people who matter most: colleagues, mentors, clients, partners, and industry contacts. You track conversations, set follow-ups, and let an AI partner help you remember what was said and what was promised.
How is this different from just keeping notes in my phone or notebook?
Tagup connects everything. When you look up someone you see their contact info, your full conversation history, pending tasks, and upcoming follow-ups in one place — and you can ask the Hub to brief you on them in plain language. Scattered notes can’t do that.
How much time does this actually take?
A few minutes per relationship per week. Tagup does the administrative carrying — drafting notes from your meeting audio, drafting the agenda for the next meeting, surfacing what’s overdue, prepping you for the next call — so the time you spend is on the conversation itself, not on the bookkeeping.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, you can export everything in document format any time, and you can permanently delete your account and data with one click. We don’t sell, share, or train external models on your relationship data.
Can I use Tagup on my phone?
Yes — Tagup works on phone, tablet, and computer. Your relationship data syncs across every device, so you can capture a quick note after a meeting on your phone and review the full timeline on your laptop before the next call.
What happens to my data if I stop using Tagup?
You can export everything any time through your account settings. If you decide to leave, you keep all of it — contacts, notes, conversation history, commitments, follow-ups. Your data belongs to you. We permanently delete it from our servers within 30 days of account closure.
