Today Tagup records through your microphone, which covers anything the room can hear — a session in your office, a walk-and-talk, a call on speaker — and the transcript still labels who said what. On a headset call, browsers only hand a web app the microphone and never the audio coming back from your speakers, so the client’s side won’t be captured. That’s a limit of the browser, not of Tagup: Tagup for Desktop is in development now and records both sides of a call directly.

Your tagups, notes, and the Hub’s prep briefs are encrypted, scoped to your account, and never used to train any external model. Tagup is single-user — no admin role, no shared workspace. Recording is per-session and deliberate: you start it yourself, the client approves it beforehand through Tagup’s built-in consent flow (see below), and any session can run notes-only.

Practically: you can export a client’s full record whenever they ask for it, delete their history permanently when they want it gone, and every recording carries a dated record of what permitted it — their approval, or your statement that you already had it. Our privacy notice sets out where data is processed, the providers we use, and how to reach our data protection officer, and a client can contact us directly about their own data. What GDPR asks of you in your practice is yours to judge; Tagup’s job is to give you the records that back it up.

You choose. Keep the client profile and history (some clients return a year later), export it as documents (some ethics frameworks recommend keeping a copy outside the working system), or delete permanently. Per-client export is one click; if you cancel the account entirely, 30 days after your subscription lapses the account and everything in it are deleted.

Yes — and Tagup handles the asking. Send a transcription-approval request from the client’s profile; they get an email stating who you are and your purpose, and they approve or decline from a private, sign-in-free page — no Tagup account needed. Until they approve, recording that client is blocked — unless you tell Tagup you already have their permission, which is recorded as your statement, dated, and shown to them on their own page. They can revoke at any time, approvals last a year and Tagup prompts for renewal before one lapses, every grant and change is time-stamped in an audit history, and each recording carries a record of what allowed it — their approval, or your statement that you had permission — exactly the evidence an ethics framework asks you to keep. Any in-session notice your framework or local law requires is still yours to give.
