Today Tagup records through your microphone, which covers anything the room can hear — a desk-side 1:1, a walk-and-talk, a call on speaker — and the transcript still labels who said what. On a headset call, browsers only hand a web app the microphone and never the audio coming back from your speakers, so your report’s side won’t be captured. That’s a limit of the browser, not of Tagup: Tagup for Desktop is in development now and records both sides of a call directly.

By default, yes — Tagup won’t record them until they approve it, or until you tell Tagup you already have their permission. You send a request from their profile; it arrives in their email, says who you are and why, and they can allow it, decline it, or change their mind later. They don’t need a Tagup account. Afterwards you can go further than a heads-up and share the transcript itself with them, one conversation at a time, with a preview of exactly what sends. Saying it out loud at the top of the meeting is still good practice, and any notice the law requires is yours to give.

A little, yes. Contacts you’ve marked Employee, Manager or Teammate are always asked, even if you’ve narrowed the setting to ask by location — and that holds two levels down, since a skip-level report is tagged Employee like anyone else. You can tell Tagup you already have someone’s permission, and it saves that as your own dated statement, kept apart from their answer — but on a 1:1 with your own report, waiting for the answer is usually the better call. If they decline, or you’d rather not ask, the 1:1 runs notes-only — same commitments, same follow-through, no transcript.

Then Tagup won’t record them unless you state that you already have their permission — and after a “no” from your own report, that is rarely the right call. The 1:1 runs notes-only: you type what’s worth keeping and skip the audio entirely. They can revisit their choice any time from the same consent page. The Hub works the same either way — briefs, commitments, and timelines don’t require a transcript.

Not to a third party as a single item. Tagup’s sharing is built for one thing: sending a conversation back to the person who was in it, so your report can read their own transcript. There’s no share to anyone else. For your own manager, export is per-report rather than per-tagup — narrow it with a date filter to keep the slice tight, or copy across the one note or commitment you need by hand, without handing over the rest of the history your report trusted you with.
